Diving
Pattaya is the nearest and most convenient diving
location from Bangkok. Although it may not be interesting enough to
most advanced divers, it is a very suitable place for beginners. There
are many scuba diving shops in Pattaya that offer PADI or NAUI certificate
courses with competitive prices. And the trips are centred around
Ko Lan, Ko Sak and Ko Khrok. One-day and half-day excursions to these
islands are also available at quite reasonable prices.
For accomplished divers, the outer islands of Ko Man Wichai and Ko
Rin which have better visibility are offered. Also worth visiting
are the several wrecks off Pattaya's shore, especially the Hardeep
and the Bremen. The Hardeep, a 420-metre long ship that sank in 1942,
is considered the most interesting dive site in this area.
Diving in Thailand centres on Pattaya, Koh Samui and Koh Tao in the
Gulf of Siam and on Phuket and Koh Phi Phi in the Andaman Sea. You
can dive on magical coral reefs; go down on wrecks in warm, clear
water and float with clouds of tropical fish. Thailand is great for
people who want to learn and also for experienced divers right through
to "tekkies" who want to push the limits.
Pattaya, being more northerly, is not subject to the monsoon seasons
that can affect locations in the south. We have a rainy season, but
we don't get the sudden, fierce, tropical storms that can strike without
warning in Phuket.
It is also a great place for families and solo travellers. Hotels in Pattaya offer the best value for money anywhere in the world and you can eat out in a different restaurant every night of the year and sample the cuisine of a score or more countries.
As well as being a fun place Pattaya also blends the best of the east and the west. You can eat sea-fresh prawns, lobster and crabs sitting under the stars on a balmy warm evening; party every night, stroll around Buddhist temples, visit a sapphire mine, go for an elephant trek, watch an amazing show where all the girls are boys, or another where the stars are crocodiles; bungee jump, sky-dive, sail, jet-ski, go game-fishing, learn to fly a micro-lite, look at orchids in a wonderful garden resort, go to a floating market....the list is endless.
And, if things go wrong there are three, first-class international hospitals, which not only offer excellent health care, but also attract many people who come for cosmetic surgery and dentistry at bargain prices.

Paintball
Paintball park

In the corporate sector, team building is an important element, and Pattaya here has something special to offer. Companies use Paintball Park for both corporate entertainment and staff training. More casual visitors discover what fun it is to shoot their friends. Paintball allows people of varying skill levels to work together as a team, demonstrating their ability to interact and communicate effectively. Paintball allows someone who may be shy in the office to shine through as a great leader and tactician. Those who want to kill their boss can do so, legally. Paintball is a game of skill, strategy and daring played outdoors in a woodland setting.
Players are dressed in camouflage gear, and use paintball-marking guns. Two equal teams compete against each other, the objective being to capture the opposition\'s flag and get it back to your home base. During the game, players are eliminated when a paintball hits them and bursts, marking them with a vivid coloured non-toxic dye that easily washes off. There is also a bungee jump at Paintball Park, which at 56 metres is the highest bungee jump in Thailand.
As an extra, stomach-curdling thrill, there is a catapult that hurls you back 56 metres into the air.
You can capture all this on video, for the playback delights of your grieving family.
